Spraakmakers is een reizende concertserie die klassieke muziek combineert met verhalen van nu. De stemmen van bekende acteurs Ellen ten Damme, Soumaya Ahouaoui en Lars Brinkman worden verbonden met de muziek van Nederlandse topensembles, waaronder het ADAM Quartet. Samen smeden zij prikkelende verhalen over de wereld van vandaag en bijpassende klassieke muziekwerken tot één nieuwe vertelling. Tegelijkertijd verteld én gespeeld, als een theatraal muziekverhaal. Na dit jaar al te zijn afgereisd naar Griekenland, Italië en Amerika zal het ADAM Quartet dit kalenderjaar nog concerten geven Ierland en Polen. De concerten zijn onderdeel van verschillende programma’s en series.
The ADAM Quartet takes you on a musical world tour, home to a beloved classic: the sunny String quartet by Maurice Ravel. Around it is music by three female contemporary composers, with roots from Sri Lanka and Azerbaijan to the Netherlands and the United States. The programme embodies the spirit of international cooperation and cultural exchange. This concert can be heard at the Muziekgebouw on 19 July.
Following the ADAM Quartet's debut at the Spring Concert of Zeister Music Days 2023, this year the quartet will be the Quartet-in-Residence throughout the festival. The quartet will be heard at several concerts and master classes, culminating in the final concert on 31 August.
At the end of December, the ADAM Quartet will be heard at the International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht. In the Ridderzaal of the Malthezerhuis, they will play works by Beethoven, Caroline Shaw and Camiel Jansen.
Camiel Jansen composed five new works especially for the ADAM Quartet, entitled "In Vivid Color". The ADAM Quartet recorded these works at De Duif in Amsterdam. You can watch these videos via the link below.
We would like to introduce you to our new viola player: Minna Svedberg Feldtmann! After a fantastic time, José Nunes is leaving the ADAM Quartet. We would like to thank José for every great memory we made together and wish him tremendous luck in the future. We are very happy to have found a great successor: Minna Svedberg. Minna studied with Lars Anders Tomter at the Royal Danish Music Academy in Copenhagen, at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" Berlin and at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Nobuko Imai and Marjolein Dispa. On 6 and 7 May 2023, the String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam presents 50 for the Future together with the Kronos Quartet, the Muziekgebouw, the Ragazze Quartet and numerous other quartets. This very first and, for the time being, only integral performance of this magnum opus by the Kronos Quartet offers two days full of premieres and special stories.
The ADAM Quartet has been selected as one of 38 quartets to be part of the European platform "MERITA". This platform increases the visibility and dissemination of emerging European quartets while promoting cultural heritage. MERITA goes hand in hand with Le Dimore del Quartetto.
A dream of the ADAM Quartet is coming true! On 22 February, the quartet will perform in the Small Hall of The Concertgebouw. The programme will include Prokofiev's second string quartet and a world premiere of "Sherbet Lemon", written by Camiel Jansen.

On 25 October, the ADAM Quartet will accompany the semi-finalists of the Cello Biennale Competition! They will do so with the virtuoso piece Fantasy on Little Russian Songs by David Popper.

The Dutch String Quartet Academy is celebrating its 20th anniversary with its own festival on 18 June. With a rich and varied programme, you can enjoy the finest string quartet music all day long. The ADAM Quartet has a very nice part to play in this festive day: the Young Composers Project. Scattered throughout the day, the ADAM Quartet will play six new works by young composers from around the world.
On 8 May 2022, the ADAM Quartet will be heard together with bassoonist Thomas Dulfer in the Jurriaanse Zaal in De Doelen. Together, they will explore the well-known but also the unknown bassoon repertoire! Tickets can be found via the link below.
After three wonderful years, our altoist Liselot Blomaard has decided to leave the ADAM Quartet. Liselot wants to broaden her horizons further and of course we understand that. From the very beginning, Liselot was involved in the ADAM Quartet as an altoist and her contribution to our quartet has been invaluable. We are extremely grateful to her for that and will miss her greatly.
Fortunately, we have found a worthy successor in José Nunes. Like the other quartet members, José graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music, studying with Francien Schatborn and Nobuko Imai. We are extremely happy with José and cannot wait to introduce him to you.

From 12 to 17 March, the ADAM Quartet will be a guest at the "Festival Jong Talent" on Schiermonnikoog. Here, on the smallest Wadden Island, they will host several master classes and also give concerts! The link below provides information about the festival and ticket sales.
On 23 January 2022, the ADAM Quartet will play a concert in the beautiful Stiftskerk. This church, which originally dates from the 12th century, lends itself perfectly to chamber music concerts. The ADAM Quartet already experienced this during the "Musical Encounters" of the Stift Festival, where they were guests last year. Now they return to this church's chamber music series with Beethoven and Jánacek on the programme.
On 19 December, jazz saxophonist Kika Sprangers will invite the ADAM Quartet to the Cereolfabriek in Utrecht. In this programme, saxophonist Kika Sprangers and the ADAM Quartet go on a musical adventure. Classical works from the repertoire for string quartet (Ravel, Schubert), are juxtaposed with arrangements of Kika's own compositions. Kika and ADAM will play twice on this Sunday: the first time at 14:00, the second time at 16.00. For more information, visit the Wild West site.
For the next edition of the "Prix Annelie de Man", a competition for harpsichordists and composers, the ADAM Quartet together with harpsichordist Ere Lievonen will perform a new composition by Laurence Osborn entitled "Coin Op Automata Part 1" to be performed. The performance will take place on 3 December at the Orgelpark in Amsterdam!
After a series of 13 concerts from Vlieland to Doesburg, the ADAM Quartet moves into the mountains to throw themselves into a new programme! In Flaine (Arâches-la-Frasse, France), they will take lessons from Luc-Marie Aguira and Yovan Markovitch, among others. The new programme featuring Janácek and Beethoven will already be heard at Muziekhaven in Zaandam on 28 August.
With a summer full of concerts, ADAM cannot wait to play in front of (almost) full halls again. The quartet will play at several festivals including the Grachtenfestival, the NJO Muziekzomer, International Holland Music Sessions and the Muziekhaven Zomerconcerten!
During the NJO Music Summer, ADAM will embark on a musical adventure with jazz saxophonist Kika Sprangers. This "young artist in residence" and ADAM seek each other out in their own works, arrangements and even improvisations! For more information, visit the NJO Music Summer site.
The Kersjes Fund has given the ADAM Quartet a string quartet stipend of no less than €15,000. The fund supports Dutch musical life annually by awarding prizes and scholarships to talented musicians. The award ceremony will take place on 23 June and will be broadcast live on NPO/Radio4 from the Muziekhaven in Zaandam.
26 June, ADAM will be a guest on NPO4's "Vrij Spel" programme, where Jet Berkhout invites the quartet to play a new, own version of a well-known classical piece in addition to their own repertoire piece. Curious about ADAM's creation? Listen to radio 4 on Saturday afternoon, 26 June!
ADAM will play no less than four times at the well-known Storioni Festival! This festival, organised by the Storioni Trio, turns Eindhoven into the epicentre of classical music. The ADAM Quartet performs Prokofiev, Schumann and Britten, among others. For more information, take a look at the Storioni Festival site.
At the beginning of May, ADAM will be a guest at "Musical Encounters", organised by the Stift International Music Festival. Here, they will play Schumann's piano quintet, among others, together with pianist Nino Gvetadze. Due to the current measures surrounding Covid-19, the concerts will not yet be able to be attended by a live audience, but keep an eye on the Stift website for livestreams!
Each week, the ADAM Quartet receives a new composition by a young composer. The quartet studies this in one week, working closely with the composer, and then records the composition at the end of each week. The recordings can be listened to via ADAM's social media channels.
On Sunday morning 7 March, the ADAM Quartet will be a guest on the radio programme "Spiegelzaal" with presenter Hans van den Boom. They will perform Schubert's seventh string quartet, D94 in d minor, which is unjustly unknown. The radio programme "Spiegelzaal" is broadcast from the Spiegelzaal in the Concertgebouw.
The Kersjesfonds announced on 4 December 2020 to award the ADAM Quartet a €15,000 stipend. The fund annually supports the Dutch music scene by awarding prizes and scholarships to talented musicians.
Under the spell of Schubert! Star cellist Larissa Groeneveld has taken the young Adam Quartet under her wing to crack the notes of the famous string quintet in C. Moved, date to follow.
On Sunday 4 October, the ADAM Quartet made its TV debut at Paul's Young Heroes From Podium Witteman on NPO2.

On Saturday 31 October, the ADAM Quartet makes its debut in Belgium at the Miry Concertzaal in Ghent. The centrepiece will be the fourth string quartet by Pēteris Vasks, a tone poet who finds it hard to deny his Latvian roots.
As part of the collaboration between the Stichting Eigen Muziekinstrument (SEM) and deMess Klassiek, the ADAM Quartet will play in Naarden on 25 October. SEM supported Hannelore and Renée in buying their own instrument and bow, with a donation.
